About Us

Caribbean Street Eats

Born in Guayaguayare, a village on the southeastern coast of Trinidad, Sean Ramal comes from humble beginnings rooted in family, tradition, and food. His father, originally from Guyana, migrated to Trinidad, where he met Sean’s mother, a native of Guayaguayare, the place where Sean’s story began.

As the youngest of four siblings and youngest of sixteen grandchildren on his mother’s side, Sean grew up surrounded by family and the rich aromas of home cooking.

Much of his early inspiration came from his grandmother, the village baker, whose kitchen was always filled with warmth, fresh bread, and traditional meals. Spending time by her side sparked Sean’s lifelong passion for cooking.

Over time, Sean became more involved in helping his mother prepare meals at home, where he developed both his kitchen skills and a deep appreciation for authentic Trinidadian cuisine. In 1984, he migrated to New York City, bringing with him the flavors and traditions of the Caribbean.

Since 1998, Sean has proudly shared the vibrant taste of Trinidad with the NYC community through his cooking. For him, food is more than a business, it's a way to honor his roots, celebrate family traditions, and bring people together.

The journey continues.
